The weather always catches up

Sun, wind and rain rarely all fail at once, and never for long.
Solar is strongest on calm, clear days. Wind is strongest in the overcast, stormy weather when solar drops. Energy engineers call this wind–solar complementarity . The rare stretch when both fall away together , dark and still, has a name too: Dunkelflaute, German for "dark doldrums.
Even the worst recorded in the UK lasted around 10–14 days.

The capsule's 30kWh reserve holds three to four times the energy needed to ride out the worst of them. Rain follows the same pattern: dry spells end, and the harvest refills the reserve when they do.

EVA applies the same discipline to water . Showers, boiling and cooking scale with the reserve and the rain forecast, and drinking water always comes first.

Generous provision, weather that always returns, and a system that paces itself . Together, that is what makes running out almost impossible.
